 What is a game??

link

A game has an objective, an outcome, and a set of rules to get there.  From my reading of the first article, it's clear most people have different definitions of what a game is. This depends on their personal experience with games. This makes  perfect sense as everyone does have different experiences with games. A universal gaming experience and what I think most people could agree on is that games are an activity, they have rules, they have conflict, they have goals, they require decision making, and they are fun!

                brainstorm!

The hardest part about making a game is the idea. The creativity can't be learned or found. Strong ideas will come in a process, Brainstorming. Brainstorming is the most commonly used method in the gaming industry for game ideas/inspiration. But at the end of the day Ideas don't result in a playable prototype. So, you need to create.

Lewis Pulsipher says 'beginners almost always make a game based on another game.' He believes the best way to start out id to make a variation of an existing game. I believe this could be very good advice, especially for the first time making a game. He also believes to start out simple!. "Reign back your ambition". Or in other words try choose a project that you will actually have a chance to complete.
