Time management

Image
Time Management link  Managing time is something that everyone has to do and some struggle with. Everyone has probably struggled with it at some stage of education/work life. This is currently me ☺️ ( sarcastic smiley). I have been quite unwell the first week of college and missed classes. Unfortunately I was pretty much bed bound so my work ability was limited. I am however catching up. I would consider myself as punctual and I can organise tasks well, but my time management issues come when I'm extremely passionate about one project all my ideas and time and effort goes into that, then all of a sudden I remember I have other modules!! ... no I'm being slightly dramatic, but this has happened once or twice. The modules in this course are courses in themselves tho! I have friends in other colleges doing just Multimedia and just Film. Our course is heavy but it will be so worth it by the end. ...

Technology tools

Technology tools Tools of technology link   Reading about the technology tools we will be using this semester was quite surprising for me. I am familiar with some and I feel like I already am quite knowledgeable about the others just from reading the short descriptions. Blogging we are getting used to now. We had blog pages last year for our photography module but they were mostly images with short descriptions if any. This is the first time we will be writing more descriptively and precisely.  Bookmarking is familiar to me too, especially using Pinterest. I'm a fan of Pinterest, I think it's easy to use and has some great content which is better than google sometimes! It's also really neat and you can create boards which is great for keeping things organised. Image editing softwares already installed on my MacBook I have become familiar with also (preview). The class website I am not so...

more about assignments

Image
More about assignments  link Getting a clearer insight in our assignments was really helpful. Reading is new for us we had very little reading to do last year as it's such a practical course. I am excited and nervous about using Unity3D, generally new softwares are a puzzle to me (still struggling with twitter!). Hopefully I will catch on quick to the ins and outs of it pretty quick.  I am looking forward to blog post comments. I will have a commenting surge now as I've not been well for the first week of college unfortunately, but I will be catching up so get ready for loads of comments everyone! 😆 The main project is what I'm most open minded about, it's exciting because its very new to me. I've never made a game or anything close to it before so it will be fun to see what I'm capable of creating. And on the flip side, its a little daunting as its so brand new to me. Hopefully all...

Growth Mindset

Image
Growth Mindset People who think their talents can be explored and developed through work and logical thinking and planning have a growth mindset. Generally they tend to achieve more than those with a more fixed mindset. Although hard work and persistence can help you achieve, it all comes down to the underlying belief that you are in control of your own destiny.  For those with a fixed mindset their focus is to look clever and appear organised and talented when they don't actually think about the work and the effort needed for the work. In a fixed mindset, effort is a bad thing (if you make effort it's a sign you don't have ability). Study shows that praising children's intelligence puts them in a fixed mindset. This communicates that they have reached praise level, and there is nothing beyond that... no more learning needed. Praise phrases like.. "you must be really smart " praises the intelligence. Whereas phrases like "you must h...

get to know me

Hello!  My name is Philippa, I'm pretty sure my name is Greek and it means 'lover of horses'... interesting choice from my parents since I have no connection to Greece and I don't particularly "love" horses.  This summer I spent my 20th birthday in Berlin. I went to Berlin for a month and I had the best time of my life. For the weekend of my birthday all of my best friends visited for a few days. It was definitely a life changing trip and I'm already looking at apartments for next summer!!  Its such a beautiful and inspiring city full of art, culture and you can be whoever you want.  When I chose this course, I had no idea what I wanted to do for a career. I was pretty much an open book when joining in first year. Since completing two semesters with a varied range of modules last year, I have found some direction and some aspects of the course which I really love. Graphic design and film are my favourites. Since ...
