 My Favourite Games



Gaming is one of those things that everyone experiences at some stage of their lives if not their whole lives. Be it playing tip the can or stuck in the mud as kids on the street, or rocking out with 'Guitar Hero', or spending hours playing Monopoly (we all know how long that game can take). Everyone likes games!

For me I think my first memories of games was as a kid in the school yard playing skipping and singing the songs that go along with the game. Or playing cops and robbers and the dodgy tarmac crack was 'jail'. Of course I was being introduced to puzzles and dolls houses as I grew up, but as far as digital gaming I think my first encounter with technology and gaming was when my brother got a Playstation 2 for Christmas one year (I still have it!). There was two remotes which were connected to the console with wires which today is unheard of. We would play "The Simpsons hit and run" for hours.  


When I first owned my own gaming device I got a Nintendo DSi for my 8th birthday. It was red and I had a clear case for it which was promptly decorated with stickers. I remember my brothers being jealous because they had second generation DSs and my new DSi had a camera and new software. A couple of favourites from my Nintendo years are, Nintendogs, Super Mario bros, Mariokart, The Simpsons game, Cooking Mama and of course Cooking Mama 2! 

As I've grown so have my hobbies and habits. I now enjoy playing "The Sims 4". I love building and creating property and sims and therefore creating endless towns and worlds. You can be whoever you want in the game, the freedom to play and explore within the game feels infinite.

Hello!  My name is Philippa, I'm pretty sure my name is Greek and it means 'lover of horses'... interesting choice from my parents since I have no connection to Greece and I don't particularly "love" horses.  This summer I spent my 20th birthday in Berlin. Game Brainstorm

  GAME BRAINSTORM link My first game idea is inspired by the game of life. Personally I wouldn't be interested in playing shooting games, or building games(e.g. Minecraft). So I thought because of this I shouldn't really consider trying to make one if these types of games. Something more suited to me would be a happy game ☺️. I thought of the game of life because I really enjoy the board game version. I particularly enjoy the fact that every time you play you end up with a different story/life. I also enjoy the fact that you can't choose the story like in The Sims for example. The game of life involves spinning the wheel and moving to that square, whatever square you land on is the life milestone you get. Project: Vision statement

  Game Vision Statement link Introduction: For this blog post I will be discussing one game idea out of my four possible ideas in a previous post. Initially I had no idea what game I wanted to do, in fact I was quite worried about what I would do as I'm not a big gamer. From making the previous post about game ideas I've found one that I like and want to pursue.  My idea is to create a runner game where the player is racing against a clock. The player can swerve between 3 lanes to collect coins/dodge obstacles. There is no end, it's an infinite runner game similar to Temple Run.   Genre: The genre of this game is a top down, third person running/infinite end game. with a similar layout/format as Subway Surfers.
