Feedback Thoughts

link FEEDBACK THOUGHTS Silence the Critical Voices in your head. After reading this article linked above, I believe that the 'silencing of the critical voices in our heads' is a trait belonging to a growth mindset. The example given in this article about Rajeev was a very clear case of self doubt. The fact that even with all the positive feedback from coworkers, he was still latching onto small negatives like their tone of voice reveals how much he was expecting negative feedback. This does come with creative projects, and I do think it's normal to critique you're own work very hard sometimes, I do agree with Sabina Nawaz in saying that you should listen and learn from negatives, but focus on positives and what you're doing right already. Projects and learning is a process and it's natural to make mistakes.  Why Rejection Hurts so Much After reading the article above I've learned that the greatest damage rejection c...

Game Brainstorm

Image
GAME BRAINSTORM link My first game idea is inspired by the game of life. Personally I wouldn't be interested in playing shooting games, or building games(e.g. Minecraft). So I thought because of this I shouldn't really consider trying to make one if these types of games. Something more suited to me would be a happy game ☺️. I thought of the game of life because I really enjoy the board game version. I particularly enjoy the fact that every time you play you end up with a different story/life. I also enjoy the fact that you can't choose the story like in The Sims for example. The game of life involves spinning the wheel and moving to that square, whatever square you land on is the life milestone you get. You do however have a few options at the start.  L ike you can choose to go to college, or work. These decisions will also have an effect on your salary/income in the game and will determine your financial state at the end of the g...

Unity tutorial 1

Image
link Unity Tutorials 1 This week we had our introduction to Unity. Unity was completely new for I think most people in the course. The first task, lesson 1.1 was so difficult for me, It took me about 4 hours just for lesson 1.1 Including downloading time. I don't know why it was so difficult for me, I think it's just brand-new software for me and I'm not exactly a whiz with technology 😳.  As I got more used to the lessons and the layout of Unity it became less stressful. I eventually got the hang of it. The tutorials are great they're very clear and easy to follow, I'm just slow with technology😂. As the lessons continued, I slowly became more confident with using Unity. I got myself a mouse which helped and it became a lot easier. Hopefully my struggle was only with discovering new software and that I will fly through the rest. Initially when hearing we will be making a...

Game Design

What is a game?? link     what's a game?    A game has an objective, an outcome, and a set of rules to get there.   From my reading of the first article, it's clear most people have different definitions of what a game is. This depends on their personal experience with games. This makes   perfect sense as everyone does have different experiences with games. A universal gaming experience and what I think most people could agree on is that games are an activity, they have rules, they have conflict, they have goals, they require decision making, and they are fun!                   brainstorm! The hardest part about making a game is the idea. The creativity can't be learned or found. Strong ideas will come in a process, Brainstorming. Brainstorming is the most commonly used method in the gaming industry for game ideas/inspiration. But at the end of the day Ideas don't re...
