Hello! My name is Philippa, I'm pretty sure my name is Greek and it means 'lover of horses'... interesting choice from my parents since I have no connection to Greece and I don't particularly "love" horses. This summer I spent my 20th birthday in Berlin. I went to Berlin for a month and I had the best time of my life. For the weekend of my birthday all of my best friends visited for a few days. It was definitely a life changing trip and I'm already looking at apartments for next summer!! Its such a beautiful and inspiring city full of art, culture and you can be whoever you want. When I chose this course, I had no idea what I wanted to do for a career. I was pretty much an open book when joining in first year. Since completing two semesters with a varied range of modules last year, I have found some direction and some aspects of the course which I really love. Graphic design and film are my favourites. GAME BRAINSTORM link My first game idea is inspired by the game of life. Personally I wouldn't be interested in playing shooting games, or building games(e.g. Minecraft). So I thought because of this I shouldn't really consider trying to make one if these types of games. Something more suited to me would be a happy game ☺️. I thought of the game of life because I really enjoy the board game version. I particularly enjoy the fact that every time you play you end up with a different story/life. I also enjoy the fact that you can't choose the story like in The Sims for example. The game of life involves spinning the wheel and moving to that square, whatever square you land on is the life milestone you get. You do however have a few options at the start. L ike you can choose to go to college, or work. These decisions will also have an effect on your salary/income in the game and will determine your financial state at the end of the g...
Game Vision Statement link Introduction: For this blog post I will be discussing one game idea out of my four possible ideas in a previous post. Initially I had no idea what game I wanted to do, in fact I was quite worried about what I would do as I'm not a big gamer. From making the previous post about game ideas I've found one that I like and want to pursue. My idea is to create a runner game where the player is racing against a clock. The player can swerve between 3 lanes to collect coins/dodge obstacles. There is no end, it's an infinite runner game similar to Temple Run. Genre: The genre of this game is a top down, third person running/infinite end game. with a similar layout/format as Subway Surfers. Theme: The design theme of the game would be set at halloween time. Im not to sure how designing the game will work and how much original designed content ...
