Hello! My name is Philippa, I'm pretty sure my name is Greek and it means 'lover of horses'... interesting choice from my parents since I have no connection to Greece and I don't particularly "love" horses. This summer I spent my 20th birthday in Berlin. I went to Berlin for a month and I had the best time of my life. For the weekend of my birthday all of my best friends visited for a few days. It was definitely a life changing trip and I'm already looking at apartments for next summer!! Its such a beautiful and inspiring city full of art, culture and you can be whoever you want. When I chose this course, I had no idea what I wanted to do for a career. I was pretty much an open book when joining in first year. Since completing two semesters with a varied range of modules last year, I have found some direction and some aspects of the course which I really love. Graphic design and film are my favourites. My Favourite Games Gaming is one of those things that everyone experiences at some stage of their lives if not their whole lives. Be it playing tip the can or stuck in the mud as kids on the street, or rocking out with 'Guitar Hero', or spending hours playing Monopoly (we all know how long that game can take). That's some good game flow. Flow is a fundamental skill to create an engaging experience. Being in flow state can be seen as being at peak engagement with an activity, the idea being that an engaged player will want to consume more of the game, apposed to a disinterested player who may abandon it. The challenge in the game needs to be slightly harder than the players amount of skill to be able to have them in a flow state, or a hyper focused state. These ideas are illustrated in the graph above. source- Decision making and fl...
